Dr. Shea is great and I highly recommend. He’s efficient but doesn’t make you feel rushed, listens to your concerns, and addresses them fully. I’ve been self conscious about my skin for years. Went to a wedding this past weekend and someone stopped me to tell me I had beautiful skin. I said “thanks, my Derm’s been putting in overtime!” It put a pep in my step and I’m super grateful :)

I can’t recommend Upper West Side Dermatology enough. The entire office is kind, professional, and incredibly welcoming. I’ve been seeing Dr. James Shea, and he’s truly exceptional. He took the time to understand my skin concerns, helped repair my damaged skin barrier, and has been patient, thorough, and deeply thoughtful every step of the way. Dr. Shea also performed a cosmetic laser treatment to reduce redness in my skin, and even after just one session, the results were amazing—the redness was significantly dulled and barely noticeable. His skill, care, and attention to detail make such a difference. If you’re looking for a dermatologist who genuinely listens and delivers real results, this is the place to go.

Very presentable and professional office--staff extremely courteous and caring attitude. Wait time minimal and Dr Shea a true professional explaining everything in layman's language. A very positive experience from arriving to leaving.

I had a great experience with Dr. Shea. He was attentive, listened carefully to my concerns, and took the time to make sure I felt heard. He explained the next steps for treatment clearly, and his recommendations made a lot of sense. Throughout the appointment, he created a comfortable and reassuring environment, which made the whole experience much less stressful. Dr Yagerman carried out mohs surgery to remove a bcc near my eyebrow and did a fantastic job. Painless, and an absolute work of art on the 8 stitches. Tiny scar which is now almost invisible 2 weeks later. Couldn’t be more pleased.
